What We Learned in Rock Hill

My "cool" certificate

As some of you know, Trey and I went out to Rock Hill, SC last week for some "Intense Church Planting Training." We really had a great time. We drove up the night before and were able to hang out and get to know each other more...more probably than we needed to.

We really learned a lot. The first night, we learned that there's not a ton of different things to do in Rock Hill. The training was really helpful. It forced us to put a lot of different ideas down on paper and then organize our thoughts into clear systems of how Wellspring we run. Trey and I really work well together. We are both very passionate about what we are doing here and are very like minded in our approach to ministry.

Another thing we learned was while other church plant teams at the training were diverse, we are not. In fact, we are eerily similar. We are both 28 (Trey will be 29 on Dec. 31st attention K-Mart shoppers), married older ladies who were former cheerleaders, have two kids who are within 6 months of each other, went to the same seminary (I quit, he didn't), and even had the same number (14) on our high school sports teams. Weird huh? So, we will really have to really try not to attract only people like us.

We really had a great time and I walked away more assured than ever that Wellspring is a movement of God and not man. We have met so many people in our neighborhood and through other people who are searching for Jesus..they just don't know that's what they're looking for. This area needs a church that will introduce them to a real relationship with him and all of the LIFE that comes with that while still allowing to keep their uniqueness. I'm excited and praying expectantly. Please join me.
